Later in the 1990s, he began his career as a combat engineer in the US Army. His musical career began with the release of “Mind of Mystikal,” his debut studio album. All six of his albums have earned both critical praise and financial success, as well as RIAA certification as gold or platinum.

In addition to his musical career, he made television appearances and began acting in the early years of the new millennium. Mystikal is the most controversial musician in the industry due to his legal history, which includes a prison sentence for sexual assault.

Michael Lawrence Tyler was born to Marie Tyler on September 22, 1970, in New Orleans, Louisiana. When he was seven years old, his father died. His mother raised him and his two siblings, Michelle and Maurice, on her own.

Mystikal attended Cohen High School before enlisting in the United States Army as a combat engineer. He aspired to be a rapper since he was a child, so he performed for Run-DMC and Doug E. Fresh at an outdoor concert at the Treme Center, which got the notice of Big Boy Records’ house producer, Leroy “Precise” Edwards, who offered him a contract.

In 1994, Mystikal’s self-titled debut album was made available through the independent label Big Boy Records. He encountered conflict with other New Orleans rappers like U.N.L.V., B.G., and Lil Wayne after the album’s release.

After signing with Jive Records, he released “Mind of Mystikal” in 1995, which was largely composed of songs from his debut. While still bound to Jive, Mystikal departed Big Boy in 1996 to join No Limit Records. Then, between 1997 and 1999, he made multiple cameo appearances on No Limit albums.

After the two albums on the label were released, he departed No Limit but stayed with Jive. In 2000, he released his album Let’s Get Ready, which featured the hit singles “Danger (Been So Long)” and “Shake Ya Ass” and debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200.

For his 2001 solo album Tarantula, Mystikal was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Rap Album in 2003. In the same year, Mystikal received a nomination for Best Male Rap Performance.

From 2004 to 2010, he served time in prison for sexual violence. He collaborated with R&B artist Lloyd and Fiend, a former labelmate from No Limit, shortly after regaining his freedom. At the 2011 Gathering of the Juggalos festival, he also performed.

Mystikal dated various women, including American singers Nivea (2000–2001), Monica, and Karrine Steffans (2001). Million Tyler and Michelle Tyler are his two children.

Mystikal found her sister Michelle dead inside her home in 1994 after she had been stabbed and strangled. Her boyfriend Damion Neville, who is also the grandson of one of the well-known Neville Brothers, was detained and accused of the crime. After a trial, however, Neville was declared not guilty.

A post shared by The Man Right Chea (@mindofmystikal)

Mystikal Rapper Early Life
