Lauper’s son, Declyn “Dex” Thornton Lauper, was taken into custody by police in the early hours of Thursday morning after they allegedly located him in a stolen 2014 Mercedes Benz C350, according to reports.<\/p>\n

Cyndi and Dex<\/a>‘s representatives did not immediately reply to a request for comment from PEOPLE. Officers saw the vehicle unlawfully double-parked at the junction of West 140th Street and Broadway at roughly 1:40 a.m. and discovered that it had been stolen.<\/p>\n

When the car was taken two years ago, TMZ discovered that the plates were registered to a different vehicle. Felony unlawful use of a vehicle was filed against the 24-year-old man who was brought into custody. An arrest warrant was issued, but he was freed with a summons for a future court date.<\/p>\n

Since being released from detention, Dex, a musician with more than 2.3 million Instagram followers and a past collaborator of G-Eazy, has maintained a social media presence. Some of his posts included screenshots of what looked to be a video of the arrest.<\/p>\n

David Thornton, whom Cyndi married in 1991, is the father of her only child, Dex. On her reality show Cyndi Lauper: Still So Unusual, which aired for one season on WeTV<\/a> in 2013, the Lauper family appeared together.<\/p>\n
