The lineup for the festival’s long-awaited return to the New Orleans Fair Grounds, planned for Friday, April 29, through Sunday, May 8, was released today. It will be three years since the last Jazz Fest in April, after the postponement of the 2020 and 2021 festivals — as well as a Rolling Stones event — because of the COVID-19 epidemic.

Jimmy Buffett, Luke Combs, Lionel Richie, The Black Crowes, Willie Nelson, and The Avett Brothers will all perform at the event in 2022.

This year’s event was planned to include certain musicians. The Foo Fighters were scheduled to perform at the ill-fated 2020 Jazz Fest, and they have a late April slot at the Beale Street Music Festival in neighboring Memphis. Stevie Nicks seems to be set on performing at Jazz Fest in 2019 — with Fleetwood Mac, who had to cancel — as well as in 2020 and 2021. The Who were also on the bill for 2020. The website for the Jazz Fest is nojazzfest.com.
