The day before the January 6 uprising, federal officials in the United States offered a $500,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the person or people responsible for planting pipe bombs near the headquarters of the Republican National Committee and the Democratic National Committee in Washington, DC.
Investigators say two pipe bombs were planted in the Capitol Hill area of Washington, DC between 7:30 and 8:30 p.m. on January 5, 2021.

One was allegedly placed behind the RNC headquarters on First Street SE and the other was allegedly placed next to a park bench close to the DNC headquarters on South Capitol Street SE, according to officials.
The FBI says the suspect was last seen wearing a mask, glasses, gloves, a grey hooded sweatshirt, and a pair of black and light grey Nike Air Max Speed Turf shoes with a yellow logo. A backpack was also visible in his possession.
A set of 1×8-inch threaded galvanised pipes, end caps, kitchen timers, wires, metal clips, and homemade black powder were used to construct the device.

The FBI, ATF, and Metropolitan Police Department have collectively offered a $500,000 reward for information leading to the suspect’s capture and prosecution.
