Shazam 2 Release Date: Director Responds to Reshoots Speculation Amid Postponed Release Date!

Shazam! Later this year, Fury of the Gods will introduce us to additional Shazam Family members, and the first trailer is already available.

The DC sequel’s official title was unveiled at DC FanDome back in August 2020, but other details have been meticulously withheld. On July 23, the trailer and preliminary storyline information arrived at Comic-Con.

We hope that the creative team behind Shazam 2, which includes director David F. Sandberg, screenwriter Henry Gayden, and producer Peter Safran, can repeat the feat that made the first film such a joy to watch.

Here is all the information you require about Shazam as we wait for more details. wrath of the gods.

Shazam 2 Release Date: When is Shazam 2 coming out?

Shazam! After several adjustments to the release date, Fury of the Gods will now be shown in theatres on December 21, 2022.

After Warner Bros shuffled its planned release schedule, the sequel was originally scheduled to hit theatres on April 1, 2022, but that date was later pushed back to November 4, 2022, and then again to June 2, 2023.

Shazam 2 Release Date

Fortunately for us, delays to another DC sequel, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, caused the sequel to be moved up to December 2022.

Prior to the release date adjustment, Sandberg had made fun of the multiple alterations and reassured fans that the filming schedule had not changed at all.

“Shazam! also Fury of the Gods will now release in the summer of 2023. Can’t you just put artificial beards on the youngsters, WB asked. and I thought, “If Tom Cruise really is going to space, we can wait till the kids get actual beards!” It’s crucial to the story, “Tweeted he.

“But seriously, that doesn’t mean we have to alter the shooting timetable, so don’t stress about the kids’ ages. However, you can go bonkers over your own age. Within three years, I’ll be 42. What do you think?”

Who Will Be Returning in the Shazam Fury of the Gods Cast?

Asher Angel and Zachary Levi will both return because of Shazam! wouldn’t exist without William “Billy” Batson and Shazam, respectively.

As well Billy’s foster family consists of Faithe Herman as Darla Dudley, Jack Dylan Grazer as Freddy Freeman, Grace Fulton as Mary Bromfield, Ian Chen as Eugene Choi, and Jovan Armand as Pedro Pea.

They each now have adult superhero personas, which are portrayed by Adam Brody as Freddy, Michelle Borth as Mary, Ross Butler as Eugene, DJ Cotrona as Pedro, and Meagan Good as Meg (Darla).

One modification has been made; Grace Fulton will now portray both Marys, but with “slightly different” hair and makeup, as opposed to Borth who will no longer be portraying Mary as a superhero, according to Sandberg.

The Shazam Family has already made an appearance in the sequel, which began production in June 2021.

The evil Dr. Thaddeus Sivana’s reappearance as Mark Strong was anticipated, but he has decided against it. Even though he disintegrated in the first movie, Djimon Hounsou is shockingly making a comeback as The Wizard Shazam.

The highly intriguing duo of Helen Mirren and Lucy Liu, who play the parts of Atlas’s daughters Hespera and Kalypso, will play the villains in the follow-up.

The West Side Story actress Rachel Zegler is another significant newcomer to the Shazam! community. She seems to be portraying Antaeus, another of Atlas’s daughters, although there isn’t much of her in the first teaser, making it difficult to tell if she’s also a bad guy.

Could Dwayne Johnson play Black Adam at last? Levi avoided answering a question about a crossover during the Comic-Con event. Though he had previously stated that he doesn’t think Black Adam will appear until at least the third film.

Additionally, Henry Cavill, the real Superman, might make a brief appearance. It would be fantastic to see Cavill reprise the role for the sequel after a disappointing (sorry) appearance in the first movie where we only saw a glimpse of the superhero from the shoulders down.

It’s uncertain whether Superman will return in the sequel because a rumored Comic-Con visit didn’t take place.

Shazam 2 Plot: What Will Shazam Fury of the Gods Be About?

Apart from the idea that Shazam will undoubtedly have to deal with some irate gods, not much is currently known about the sequel’s premise.

The first trailer gives the impression that Shazam is having a bit of a superpower crisis while trying to keep the Shazam Family together. But we’re confident that the threat posed by Atlas’ daughters will alter that.

Shazam 2 Release Date (2)

Given that the Shazam Family’s superpowers were derived from the gods, it appears that their acquisition of them at the conclusion of the first film is what has Hespera and Kalypso on the hunt for them.

We may be able to rule out any continuation of the previous movie’s credit scene now that Mark Strong has ruled out a comeback in the role of Dr. Thaddeus Sivana. In that scenario, the villain was apprehended by the Shazam Family and we met him in his jail.

Sivana encountered Mister Mind, a formidable supervillain from comic books who resembled an extremely intelligent caterpillar. Sivana frequently participates in Mister Mind’s own Monster Society of Evil because he poses such a threat to society.

“Oh, the joy we’ll have together. The seven realms will soon belong to us “He informs Sivana, which we believed to be setting up the sequel’s narrative.

The “seven realms” refer to The Seven Magiclands, which are depicted in comic books as being associated with the Rock of Eternity. Could the Shazam Family tour the DC Worlds in the sequel now that they are well entrenched there?

What the Director Said?

Many DC fans have eagerly anticipating Shazam! Fury of the Gods makes its big-screen debut, especially after the eagerly anticipated sequel’s release date was repeatedly postponed. The project was most recently announced to be moved from December of this year to March of next year; this move appears to have been planned (at least in part) to avoid conflict with the December release of Avatar: The Way of Water.

Fans have nonetheless made assumptions regarding Fury of the Gods’ future and how this postponed release would affect the movie. That won’t be the case, according to director David F. Sandberg, who posted on Instagram that he’s “absolutely not shooting more” of the movie and that “everyone is happy” with how it’s going thus far.
