The wife of Pennsylvania’s new senator, John Fetterman, Gisele Barreto Fetterman, rushed to the scene of a serious fire in East Pittsburgh and helped put it out.
Gisele was spotted at the scene of the three-alarm fire early on Tuesday morning with her fellow firemen. Pittsburgh Action News obtained footage of Gisele, fully outfitted, strolling through the neighborhood while talking on her cell phone.
In December, the former Pennsylvania second lady became a member of the Rivers Edge 113 crew. Around the middle of December, she made the announcement on Facebook with a picture of herself decked out in firefighter garb and posing in front of a fire truck.

She thanked “the entire team” for helping her along the way, writing, “Say hi to Rivers Edge 113’s newest member (still tonnes of work ahead but excited and ready to learn). And think about helping out your neighborhood fire station that only operates with volunteers.

Gisele’s new endeavor kicked off on January 2, just days before John’s inauguration as a United States senator. Before that, her husband was Pennsylvania’s lieutenant governor.
On Facebook, Gisele posted a photo album in honor of John’s achievement, in which the couple and their three children can be seen smiling with Vice President Kamala Harris.
John Fetterman, Pennsylvania’s Junior (and extremely cute) Senator, wrote alongside the historic images.
In November, John defeated Republican Dr. Mehmet Oz to win a seat in Pennsylvania’s Senate.
After meeting in 2008, Gisele married John and the couple eventually had three children: Karl, Gracie, and August. Gisele initially contacted him via letter, wondering about his stint as mayor of Braddock, Pennsylvania, and the revitalization efforts there.
Gisele, a native of Brazil, obtained her green card in 2004, four years before her marriage, and then became a naturalized citizen in 2009. She has spent her entire life serving others, particularly in the areas of food security, equity, and nutrition in the state of Pennsylvania.
