High School Student in Sacramento Nabbed With a Gun and Allegedly Connected to Robberies, Police Said

Police in Sacramento claimed that detectives apprehended a high school student who was found on campus with a loaded revolver and was wanted in relation to robberies that took place last month and targeted kids at another school.

According to a social media post by the Sacramento Police Department, the 17-year-old teenager who was detained on Wednesday at Luther Burbank High School was one of two suspects thought to be responsible for two thefts that happened on December 19 close to C.K.

McClatchy High School. Because the youngster is a minor, the Police Department declined to disclose his name. When the boy was taken into custody, police reportedly discovered a loaded weapon in his backpack, according to Luther Burbank High Principal Jim Peterson.

In a letter to parents, Peterson urged them to use the experience as a “strong reminder” of the value of the public safety tactic “see something, say something.”

“Please have a conversation with your student to find out if they have any other details about this occurrence that could be useful to the school administration or the police.”

According to the police, as they were apprehending the student at Burbank High, detectives with the Neighborhood Crimes Unit discovered the gun, which had been reported stolen.

The first person detained in relation to the December robberies near McClatchy High was Keavie Letoria Young Jr., 18, on January 19. Wednesday, Young was still being held at the Sacramento County Jail. According to jail records, he is accused of robbery and attempted robbery.

Detectives don’t think there are any more suspects connected to the robberies from last month, according to the police, who said this on Wednesday night.

Principal Andrea Egan said in a letter to parents dated December 20 that two students at McClatchy High were robbed by masked suspects in “broad daylight” about 10 to 15 minutes after classes ended for the day. The students were allegedly robbed close to the student parking lot on Freeport Boulevard, according to the principal.
