A jackpot has been won 207 times since this lottery’s initial drawing on May 17, 2002, by 233 winning tickets. 21 of the jackpots were split between numerous winners. Illinois had a $28 million winner from that very first drawing.
There have been Mega Millions of winners in 29 states, with multiple winners in 19. However, the District of Columbia, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and 17 other states have yet to announce a jackpot winner.
Alabama, Alaska, Hawaii, Nevada, and Utah are the only five states that don’t take part in the Mega Millions. A lottery player from Alabama did, however, take home the Mega Millions prize in 2003.

States With the Worst Mega Millions Results
Mega Millions winners have yet to be announced in seventeen states. These are Wyoming, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Dakota, Vermont, and Delaware.
Notably, Mississippi’s lottery didn’t launch until 2019 and the state just started selling Mega Millions of tickets in 2020.
