According to the report in the News, the two were involved in a string of armed robberies and carjackings in Queens beginning in October 2022 and continuing up until this month.
On October 24, 2022, the two and another man are accused of robbing an Uber driver in Murray Hill, Queens, of his keys, wallet, and iPhone 13 before demanding payment. The event was reported in The News.
The thieves reportedly held a gun to the victim’s head before the latter revealed his home address and said he had cash there.
The gang then broke into the home and made off with $20,000 in cash before releasing the suspect on the eastern tip of Long Island with the warning, “We will kill you and your family if you call the police.”
After being caught in a stolen Jeep late in December, New York City police initially arrested Carrasco and Tavares, according to the News. A link between the suspect and the thefts was then established by the authorities.
At this time, details on Carrasco and Tavares’ bail status are unavailable.
