A man from Albany who was found guilty of having an illegal handgun was given 11 years in State Prison and five years of supervision after he got out. The indictment says that Ahquis Tarver, who is 31 years old, knew he had the gun on or around May 26 near Ontario and First Streets.
The news came out after Tarver was found guilty of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree on January 18. Albany Police say that on May 26, officers talked to a person whose bike had been stolen by Tarver. When the victim tried to talk to Tarver, he pulled out a gun and said he would shoot them, the victim told the police.
